Google SearchWiki a favourite of contestants

Blue Jumper In Irish, calling themselves Geansai Gorm, have spotted that the Google SearchWiki is being used by the SEO contestants to move themselves up the ranks or more importantly move other competitors down the Google SERPs; in a post entitled: "Geansai Gorm competition gets bitchy".

GGwinner spams Wikipedia

After getting his link zapped on the wikipedia entry for Gorm, ggwinner somewhat tongue in cheek left a link with "You see, anybody can add a link in here…a nofollow one :)- from ggwinner".

The first female entrant, Aoife Ni Chionnaith, with bluejumpercompetition

Aoife is looking for participation on her website: "If you have a geansai gorm experience, geansai gorm would really like to hear your story…..". I’m not sure you’ll get any link love.

Conor Doyle gets in on the act with the first Geansai Gorm dot ie site

We can test some of the claims of the IEDR now.  Will they give a higher ranking to a ".ie" site?  C4 dot ie is the first ".ie" domain in the race, so far.  Conor checks out the etymology of the word Jumper.  One advantage of using C4 is that he can probably use the domain for something else once the competition is over.  I think he’s too late though.  Google does like older Geansai Gorm with a history of link flow.

Rockin’ to the top. Geansai Gorm by Web Distortion

Webdistortion.com, a young and innovative web design studio based in Northern Ireland, have joined the Geansai Gorm SEO competition. Their site is at linksordie.com and pretends to be a restaurant: "Founded by Peter Geansai Gorm- the restaurant has year on year continued to grow from strength to strength."  Like George Michael the owner, Paul Anthony, has no surname, just two firstnames.  He could be a rock star.

Mike Afford Media is latest entrant

Mike Afford Media is latest entrant with http://geansaigorm.mikeafford.com/.  Mike is based in Folkestone, Kent Leitrim and has a nicely designed website at mikeafford.com.  Could be too late though.  Also his domain is a sub-domain - which will probably break the rules….although it is not 100%.

Cormac Moylan joins the Geansai Gorm competition

Cormac’s entry is to http://www.suiomheadach.com/ and he is specifically targetting GeansaĆ Gorm with the fada an all.  Cormac is from Cork and probably leaves the fada in because he is a fluent Irish speaker. He’s got a Degree in IT and a Diploma in Multimedia from WIT.

Cormac has a popular blog at http://cormacmoylan.com/blog/ - with a current Alexa rank of circa 210k….which might give him a bit of mussle, however he’s joining the race a little late, a little too late in my opinion, to be able to catch up on the others.  We’ll see.

As Gaelige’s video makes 2nd spot in the SERP’s

As Gaelige’s youtube video, featuring "Call me blue" by A-house which was first released in 1988.  The second half features the Foo Fighters with "This is a call".  There’s a picture of some briefs nearly half way through - it may have been targetted to be the image of the video as youtube takes a clip at the half way point and uses it as the video thumbnail.  However in this case the briefs are just before the halfway mark and aren’t used.

While this cannot be a winner (as it is not a new domain), it can be used to pass some link love to "As Gaelige’s" site which is asgaelige.com.  As Gealige is doing what is recommended in SEO, providing good content.  However the question will be, is it good enough.  So far it’s not working, but it’s still early days.

Kae Flexes his file manager

Yep, those sneaky links are appearing everywhere.  Checkout the bottom of the homepage for "Kae’s File Manager" (http://kfm.verens.com/).  Surprise surprise it’s got "Geansai Gorm" in the link text, but interestingly it links to "verens.com" - not to his entry which is kaesometimeswearsbluejumper.  He’s taking the friend of friend approach.

Dara from “As Gaelige” is a determined player

Taking advantage of free press release sites can be useful for building your PR.  Gaelige has availed of the site http://pressreleasepoint.com with this http://pressreleasepoint.com/geansai-gorm-stirs-irish-seo-community-action post.  I’m not sure how well they vet their press releases, obviously not closely enough.
